She greeted us on arrival (from a safe distance) and had left a welcome tray for us with homemade cakes and hot drinks. We stayed in the Stable Cottage. It had everything you could need and more. It was quaint but spacious and well equipped. The attic bedroom was warm and comfortable. Each apartment or cottage has its own designated patio table and chairs. There is a lawned doggy area and parking on site. Everything was spotlessly clean and Linda explained the procedures they had in place to ensure that they were cleaned and changed between guests to ensure that they met (or exceeded) all of the covid requirements. I cannot rate Pack Horse highly enough and would not hesitate to stay here again.

There are 5 holiday accommodations at the Pack Horse and I stayed in Honeysuckle which has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It had everything I could have wanted. I slept so well and woke up listening to the river Aller which runs alongside.
I was quite nervous booking a solo holiday, but Wills and Paul went out of their way to assist me with local walking groups that I was able to join in with.
Whether you are booking as a family, a couple, or even solo like me, the Pack Horse and the wonderful hosts will welcome you with open arms.

Will & Paul were so friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed.... read more We had a welcome cream tea awaiting us at the cottage which was a lovely surprise. The cottage itself was roomy but lovely and warm/cozy with all the mod cons. The bed was very comfortable. The bedroom ceiling was quite low in places but I’m very tall and managed to get about ok. We were visiting friends in the area so know Allerford / Porlock well, but it there were plenty of leaflets and guide books in the cottage, for places of interest to visit, shop and eat. There are a number of cottages to choose from at The Pack Horse to suit potential guests needs. We highly recommend The Pack Horse accommodation and are already planning to book for our next stay!
